Welcome to the online gallery of Mark Elgood. These photographs are the result of my constant desire to see what is over the next ridge and the next range until finally at the top of the mountain. This curiosity has carried me to extraordinary places. I wanted to capture that moment of discovery and the images here are an attempt to do just that. Rather than using an ultra-realistic style, many images are more of an abstract realization of the colors and moods present in the landscape (and photographer) at that time.Most of the photographs are from mountain ranges in Alberta and British Columbia, some are from other travels and interests. The trips taken into the mountains in particular are an opportunity to leave behind the clutter and noise and to enter a serene and stunning world of beauty.
